Fontana di Trevi, the most famous fountain in the world

An incredible work of art, the biggest monumental fountain in the world and one of Rome’s symbols. Its current look is due to a renovation ordered by Pope Clemente XII in the year 1730: the work was commissioned to the architect Nicola Salvi. However, the fountain’s history goes way back in time, back to an old roman aqueduct, Acquedotto Vergine, that used to be in the same location.

Fontana di Trevi is a unique monument: the majestic statue in the center represents the good Oceano and his carriage pulled by two winged horses, one calm and one angry, led by two tritons. This is the scene you’ll see in the fountain: before you go, remember to throw a coin inside of it, it will bring you back to Rome!

Piazza di Spagna and Trinità dei Monti, a charming walk

The most famous and elegant square in Rome, a meeting place where you can admire the beauty of Fontana della Barcaccia del Bernini (1629AD), walk the staircase of Trinità dei Monti, reach the top and enjoy a unique vista of the city.

The square owes its name to the Spanish embassy, the staircase was built to connect it to the church of Trinità dei Monti. It’s a beloved place among romans, close to via dei Condotti, via del Babbuino and via di Ripetta, home of the best shopping boutiques in town.
