A stop on the steps of trinity of the mountains to admire the splendor of piazza di spagna
Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous squares in Rome, it owes its name to the presence of the Spanish Embassy since 1600 and one of the most elegant, surrounded by ochre-colored buildings, with the center of the famous fountain of Bernini’s Barcaccia and the monumental staircase leading to the church of Trinità dei Monti.
The Fountain of the Barcaccia is the first fountain conceived as a sculptural work and most probably owes its particular shape to the presence of a dry boat, brought there by the flood of the Tiber in 1598, adorned in particular by two sun-shaped sculptures with a human face and two papal coats of arms with the tiara and the bees, heraldic symbol of the Barberini family, of Pope Urban VII, who commissioned the work in 1526.
The staircase is also a unique work of art, a large staircase decorated with numerous garden terraces, accompanies the visitor, with a pleasant climb on a gentle slope, towards the church of Trinità dei Monti. Here you can look at the horizon and give yourself a few moments to observe the spectacular landscape that you have in front of you.
