Overlooking the terrace of the Pincio: an all-italian show

The Pincio hill, formerly known as Colle degli Orti (Hill of Gardens), has its roots in the ancient Rome of the Republican age, when noble families used to build their own gardens on it. The name Pincio, in fact, derives from the name of one of these families, the Pincii. During the French occupation, Napoleon wanted to donate a public park to the city and churches to Giuseppe Valadier, a well-known and important architect and landscape architect of the time, to rearrange the area, transforming it into the Pincio Park, as we see it today.

The promenade of the Pincio is a must, for those who want to visit Rome, between its avenues you can enjoy the green pines, oaks, cedars and palms but not only nature, also art. Among the most famous works there are 228 busts of famous Italian people, the Casina di Giuseppe Valadier, better known as the coffee of the Pincio, the water clock, a bizarre hydrochronometer that measures time with the passage of water by Father Embriaco and many others.

Once you arrive in Piazzale Napoleone I, a terrace from which you can enjoy an exceptional view, at a glance you can admire the Rome of the Renaissance and the Vatican, from St. Peter to Gianocolo, from the palaces of Eur to Monte Mario, at sunset, at night, at dawn, always and however an urban landscape of unparalleled beauty.
